Doflicky104 Tanks

Thanks guys. TABII doesn't want to make Slimline tanks. They say it's essentially not worth their while -which is unfortunate because they made me a nice fuel tank. That BARTEL one just doesn't look right IMO.

I talked to to Mike at Royton Road and Race... he doesn't make the Slimline tanks any longer. Crap.

Re: Doflicky104 - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY

At long last I bought one here in the USA, made in the USA, and it will be here in a couple days. Woohoo! It wasn't cheap, but it looks like a nice piece. It isn't polished but an hour on the buffing wheel at my house and it will be like a mirror.

Interestingly enough, the vendor/maker said that they recently also had someone else who bought one from them after waiting for months from "Some guy on Ebay who didn't deliver".

Good news! Please post some pics of the tank when fitted.

Guys, do the manx style alloy tanks usually have oil drain plugs in the bottom?

It's not normal in my experience Johnny. If not, you just hav to disconnect the feed pipe to drain it.

Re: Doflicky104 - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY

Yep, normally they do not/ And originally, they did not.
You'll either have to disconnect the feel line, or suck the oil out the cap with a pump, which i my opinion will make for a cleaner and easier job.

Looking forward to seeing the tank you get.

It's amazing to me how many reproduction tanks are just wrong in so many ways. It's like the maker has never even looked at an original tank.

Not on mine Johnny. To save the mess I bought a big shringe to pull the oil from the tank. The last bit, if there is any at all as the feed is slightly up from the tank bottom, can be drained from the feed pipe. I only take that off to clean the gauze filter.

Nator - where did you get a syringe with a large enough capacity? A plumbing supplies shop?

Also, do you extract the oil when warm, as it would be hard work when cold??

Re: Doflicky104 - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY

OK, wel now I'm confused. I just received the Oil tank from doflicky over 2 months after I ordered it!!! WTF. Ebay refunded my money after he failed to respond. Luckily the folks in Florida at Legendary Motorcycles were able to cancel the order I placed last week. I am going to have to track down Doflicky and pay him. If the guy would just respond to emails this could have been avoided.

Tank looks great. Obviously it's not "Mirror Polished" like the listing says but I can take care of that. I am having very mixed emotions right now.

It's something like this, I didn't suck the whole lot out at once!!! An empty oil can is needed for transferring into and wear gloves. Oh and yes oil when warmed up a bit as per a normal oil change.
