I've been looking at them for the 530 from andychain. Almost all get crappy reviews, breaking the pins or other pcs after 1 or 3 uses, but this D.I.D. KM500R version looks like a winner. https://www.ebay.com/itm/D-I-D-DID-...4:g:uY4AAOSwISRac9d9:sc:UPSGround!95819!US!-1
OTOH, it's not cheap and it seems I might cd get by just using a suitable punch to drive out the pins and get the correct length?

And do I need something called a crank link? I think I have a 20T sprocket.

My guess is most broken tools of this type are due to insufficient care in grinding the pin head.
As to whether you need a cranked link (two links in one - but the side plates are dog-legged) depends on whether you can fit a normal link (preferable).
I would prefer to push the adjusters out a bit and fit a standard joiner link than keep it at shorter adjustment and use a dog-legged link.
I use DID 520 x-link - the hardest part is compressing the x-rings between the joiner side plates - a chain-breaker is helpful here.
Cheers
Rob

using a cranked link may also depend if you can actually get a cranked link in your size and make of chain, you cannot get them for all.
