Do we need a Norton Dominator Forum Poll.

Ok the vote says no to the Dominator forum..

There are not many posts in the Other Nortons section anyway.
Splitting it up even further is going to make it harder to take it all in...
??

I am not recalling any Dominator activity....why , I cant figure out. I don't even know what a Dominator looks like without some research.

I'd say so, yes, but I think it should include all models from Model 7 to Mercury so this includes the Atlas which I see you've also asked if it needs a separate forum.

Just for quick reference, they mostly have a proper frame ie the "Featherbed" and not the Raleigh chopper type spindly things of the later variety

There are nearly twice as many posts in the Other Norton's section as there are in all the Other British Classic motorcycles combined. If anything, all the other British marques should be condensed into one forum and Norton motorcycles should be expanded a bit. I'm not sure why so many people get there panties in a bind about expanding Other Norton's into a few select forums...

I feel that the strength of this forum is it's sharp focus on Commandos, with room for contributions regarding other Norton models and other marques. Many of the other Norton models share engine, gearbox, primary drive and running gear to a large extent, so I feel that there is a case to be made for keeping these models together in the Other Norton section.

There are many other forums for British bikes and none of them have the focus, quantity of traffic (regarding Nortons) or the generally high quality of contributor that we enjoy here. This is what keeps me coming back time and again. Someone pointed out in an earlier thread that there is necessarily a finite number of people interested in Commandos and this is unlikely to grow at any appreciable rate, in fact it may even shrink! As someone running any site the success is often measured in hits, but I believe that a dichotomy exists between 'numbers' and 'quality' and I'm not sure where the balance is. In general I feel that the more sub-sections there are the more untidy and complex the site looks and takes longer to navigate. If there is a real demand for any dedicated section then give it a go, but monitor the traffic and be prepared to drop a page and place the content back intoa general section if there is insufficient traffic. I note there is now a P11 page and there has been a long thread ongoing about P11s on the Other Norton section, but I personally doubt there is sufficient interest to sustain a dedicated P11page. You might consider changing this to a Hybrid page to incorporate all the other varieties including the G15 /N15s, but I'm not convinved that this will have significant traffic and I say this as someone who owns a G15 and therefore has an interest in this.

Nah.

DomiRACER . :D

Might pay to seperate the ' dommies ' into W/L and S/l etc as theres a bewidering variety , and specs more bound to year / production series than designations , thus a 650SS , Mercury and atlas are closer Kin than to wideline series production , which are more archaic quaint and english garden shed , thus make beter Tritons . :x :P   . ahem .

The wideline Series in SINGLES is a book unto itself also . eventually might be some authoritive production specifications , we would hope .
rather than hysteria . rro... , :!: We'have NO Bickering . Either . :( debates , but no getting all personal in the insults . please .

AFAIK the Dominator line started in 1947 with the model 7 and included the 77, 88, 99, Manxman, 650SS, Atlas and Mercury.

You've got to wonder how many of the "no" voters have actually got a "Dommie" ?

And how many "yes" voters are Dominator owners who feel it would be somehow disloyal to vote "no."
