When installing a new Sparx alternator & reg/rec do I have to do anything to the old stuff other than disconnecting the Zenor dioad? Do I need to do anything to the old Rectifyer wires??? I know this is old for you guys but I really am in the dark electricly.

disconnect the wire at the zener and tape and tie it up, use the 2 alt wires at the rectifier ( grn-yl grn-wht) to the sparks regulator yellow wires and IF you are installing the three phase you will need a third wire from the stator to regulator yellow. you can use the brown blue at the rectifier to the black on the sparks and red to red.

Wow Bill, that's a whole lot differant then the instructions of " connect all three yellow to the three from the Sparx Alternator and the Red & Black to the Battery... Black to Battery negative Red to Positive.

You are correct, gtsun. Eliminate the rest, the rec, the zener and the wires. I simply run a wire with the inline fuse from the negative side of the battery to feed the ignition switch.. Easy peasy.

the way I am saying you only have to run 1 new wire from the stator to regulator and use what is in place. but what I stated was using the existing wiring as you ARE wiring 2 of the three yellow to the stator through the existing wiring. Now if you are wiring from scratch it is the same story. yes run the 3 stator wires to the three yellow wires, black to negative and red to positive and trash all the old stuff. also the old style warning light assimalator WILL NOT WORK with the three phase alt.
