2006 pic after complete engine/gearbox rebuild.

That's certainly a Commando engine, is it isolastic mounted? Who built the frame?

What a neat piece!

Oh yes yummmy looking go getter. I was pretty surprised by basic road going Commandos off road ability, so decided to emphasis that in Ms Peel. She'll be similar but w/o the clutter of number plates and fenders and such a big gas tank.
I'm pretty sure the isolastics help tire grip in loose stuff, hope this one retains that.
Mine sure will.

Mark thanks for making me open and look again, gave me a semi permanent sheet-eating grin and a tingle in the joint. Yeah man this one has the look of function that touches a nerve for me and a bunch of others same way.

cool bike, but ......

No lights, ect = not street legal
Brakes = not race legal.

cool looking bike, but what do you do with it?
Track day maybe?

Hey! Glad you figured out the photo bucket!! What a great bike!
Some more photos would sure be nice! It's a beauty!

Yes! But Naked pic's please and if isolastic or not. A mention of intended use for this construction would be interesting too. Some air time shoots would just about do me in on this one.

The frame looks similar to one I used to have that was made by Knight for the Yamaha flat track experiment back in '81 and '82. Picture below. Any chance this one is also a Knight frame?

This frame was used as a dyno mule in Axtell's shop, so it has the frame cut and bolted plates welded in to allow removal of the top section to work on the engine while the bike is still on the dyno.

There seem to be a lot of similarities in your frame construction and this one.

mkane77g describes it as a 1970 Dallas Baker dirt tracker in the 1st post. We don't see many flat trackers on this site.

Is the 300 lb weight a rough weight or is it really that light? Aluminum cradle, swing arm, front end? oil tank?

Lotsa ground clearance! What is the black business on the right exhaust rocker spindle cover?

Thanks, Rennie. Must be a problem with my browser. All I see are two pics of the bike, one larger than the other. I don't see any description in the first post, except "2006 pic after complete engine/gearbox rebuild".

Ken, I meant mkane77g's 1st post on this forum "original owner"" where he was having trouble posting the photos. (Link below)

mkane77g, glad you found this place where all mixes of Norton enthusiasts gather! Welcome aboard! As you can see, we can't wait to get more info about your bike!

I believe this is a Dallas Baker frame. The Norton was owned and tuned by Nick Deligiannis, ridden by David Aldana, with a whole lot of work done by C.R. Axtell. Last I heard, Nick donated it to the Guggenheim museum.

The Ron Wood Norton, to the best of my knowledge, had a frame of Ron's own design. Ron had a Don Quixote bent for Nortons back then.

My father bought the chassis in 1970 in LA. Dallas Baker frame. It's been a race bike all it's life. Kosman wheels, triple clamps. Rigid mount motor balanced @ 74%. Axtel head, 560nr cam, 33 1/2mm carbs. Ard ign. replaced Joe Hunt mag. Front brake is used for tt events. 300lbs is damn close. This pic was taken in 2006 after a rebuild. The gismo on the spindle plate is used to check oil pressure. Thanks for the offers of posting pic's for me, now I'm a pro.

Dang mkane, that white bike sure flashes me back to my P!! daze. Clip forks and lenghthen down tubes for 2" low front and I'd be thrown back to me diaper stage.
These 'flat track' 'desert racers' are a model i'm shooting for underneath big fairing and luggage racks and tank on Ms Peel.

I believe that's a Trackmaster. Dallas Baker made just a few Norton frames, I've never seen another one, and mine has an oil tank.

Let me be the first to say, I wouldn't know the difference between a Dallas Baker frame and a Trackmaster frame. I was quoting an internet source. Although, I have met Nick and have seen the actual bike.
