I have a bike which is set up as a 71 Fastback. I assume that it's a put together bike because engine and frame nos are different.

It is painted in BRG, but due to ethanol delamination, the tank is going to be replaced in metal and all coloured parts will be going for a repaint.

Should the sidecovers be painted in Silver or in BRG?

Gold Norton decals on the Tank and the seat fairing, plus a Made in England

750 commando decals with lining on sidecovers.

Many thanks

Charles

I thought the side covers were black ?
My 71 Fastback is 20M3S/143958 March 1971 tag has black ones but they are not steel if that is what the had from new.

I wonder if anyone on the site has an original 1971 Fastback with pictures of it ?
Google image searches do now turn up much, mine came with a single switch head light but wonder if it is off a Mk3.

Black .

Theres ' many ' shades of Dulux B.R.G.

Darkests green tinted black , Id think a bit of freedom of interpretation of the shades wouldnt hurt .

Thin over a differant base , with 12 coats of clear gets it shifting shade with the light .

This is the 2nd or 3rd darkest of the 60s Dulux Ducos .

Painted Black ' Norton ' on tank , if you look close . No bright outline .

That looks like a later (disc) LR Fastback from the land of google images?????

No one has a stock 1971 Fastback it seems.

These Sidepanels would likely be silver , or if not , body colour , matching the tank . I think the Mk IIIs were Black . The Early Ones Silver .

Think the silver may usually be with the early gaitered fork with the curveatious headlamp mounts ?

maybe unrestored ? / for placement of logo . http://en.advisto.com/auctions-classifi ... 218232.htm

This is a pre-'71 model. Bolt-up hub, Atlas style muffler, side mount tank with no cover, Wipac switchgear.

It does look good. Not too far from a Fastback of old, really ?

With a change of sidecovers and suspension and brakes, it wouldn't be TOO difficult to do that to a 750 or 850 fastback either.
Just throw some cubic $$$ at it, and stand back.
961 engine is optional.....

This is not an actual model being produced.

Just something that some design artist has dreamed up ?
Pierre Terrablanche, and Mr Garner, eat your heart out....

I got some decals from Andover Norton.
Black side cover as stock for 1971.
062019 (gold/black) decal.
Not sure what the black bit is until they are applied.
