About to make my first cross country trip on my '13 T100 Bonneville, leaving tomorrow. Vancouver to Ottawa. Got my camping gear loaded. No tight schedules so can take my time. Hope to stop in at the Riders Ranch campsite outside Creston first or second night. That's 750km. Did it two years ago on way to Idaho with a buddy. This trip plan is to stay in country whole trip. Taking Southern trip there and likely Northern back in August.

Got rain gear, heated gear, cooling gear. Should be covered unless it snows.

If you come by this way, catch the biggar rally Aug 3-4

Just to be clear , you going half way across Canada !!! .... by turning around in Ottawa you will miss what many know as the best motorcycle riding east of Rockies , plus all us friendly maritimers .... hope you find the time to ride this far and experience the Cabot Trail one of the more well known rides , although not the best , does get a lot of press ..... in 2017 I did it all except Nfld. on the Ducati and it was well worth the effort ......enjoy your ride and best of luck !

Stayed at Riders Ranch motorcycle campsite lastnight outside Creston BC. some 750 km from start. Tonight hoping to reach Lethbridge AB. Got some hard rain but only a few min worth. Raingear working well. Glad I had heated liner over mountains yesterday. Luxury!

For my seat I have the flat slab type fitted for this trip as the stock singl with rack style is less comfortable long hauls. Bike is the Steve McQueen McQueen edition with some Scrambler bits as OEM. I have a cheapo CTC car seat cushion. Has gel type honeycomb to give airflow and no painpoints. Works a treat at $14.

Check out Drumheller if you get a chance , had a good dig with a couple of Aboriginal guys on sportsters , did they know that back road ..... phewww ! ..... during my ride early-mid May West to east , I used a thermal suit underwear under heated vest then thin hi-tech sweater covered in Klim gortex Apex jacket and latitude gortex pants , SidiRainTour leather/gortex boots .... didn’t get pekev Ride jeans on till day 17 second to last day in Quebec ..... enjoy your trip , I got time and room if you decide to come this far ....

the Tyrell museum in Drumheller is worth a visit, but if he comes via lethbridge its about 250km out of his way (oneway)

Might try for it on return run. Always wanted to see the dino digs. Had some heavy patches of rain yesterday. Decided to camp at Chinook prov park just inside Ab. On to medicine hat today.

Oh, any tips for dealing with strong cross winds appreciated. Bike is moving around lots.

Tuck in and be very glad you aren't on a BMW rt1200r or other fully faired bike.
At least the Triumph has some holes through it!

Got caught in thunder/hail/rain storm just outside Swift Current , girl at hotel desk said wind never stops ( did eventually weaken though) , I posted pics on Duc forum of uneven wear on tires of that day and some of next ,riding leaned over with knee out, to go straight !!! .... ST3s like a very high end wind surfer sail in cross winds ....

Guess the ped slicer ain't helping. Then again I think it might act as an auto counter steering device in side gusts ;)
Made it to MedHat. Having meal at The Garage eatery. Thought it was a tune up shop as I went by then saw a patio in prkg lot. Will press on to Swift Current a few more hrs east and it almost three pm here now.

Sounds like a great trip and some nice country side for traveling, I can't wait to do my next trip on my Thruxton S, I have it well set up for camping travels, anyway enjoy your trip.
