I am thinking about disassembling my 850 motor in the spring and having the crankshaft reworked to eliminate the runout. I will be in the US for approximately 2 months (may/Jun) and could bring the CS with me. Is there a recommended shop that specializes in Norton cranks that could inspect/remachine/eliminate any runout?
The crank has .007 runout at the alternator end. Although it has no apparent ill effect in operation, it has to be harder on bearings than it would be with 0 runout. I would like to have it trued/balanced. I am quite familiar with balancing engines and I realize that all the associated rotating parts have to accompany the crank.
So who does this sort of stuff on a Commando?
