I think that was mentioned a few posts back. Jim

Yep, that's why I was surprised to see he'll restrict himself to 96%....

Tim

Well I have to applaud anyone who tries things that everyone else says will not work. Without them we would probably still be riding horses to work.
Now Steve, put the mouse down and get to work. Jim :D

Commoz I don't know why I'd want mid 90's BF either, yet i've some hints and reasons to believe it may help traction. hi hobot,if traction is your aim have you considered a 90 degree crank or even a 76 degree crank{ ive no experience with either but from what ive read on the subject both aid traction} if memory serves me well the japs did something similar with their 500 two smoke gp bikes in the early 90s,instead of equal firing they changed the cranks to bring the power strokes much closer together{big bang} it improved traction and made the bikes easier to ride

You don't need to twist the crankshaft to get a big bang. Just the cam.

I'm looking forward to the first ride on my 924cc twingle. Jim

hi jim,ive also thought about that idea, ill be very interested in your repots on that one, dont forget the ignition if your not using a wasted spark system lol

Yes it is wasted spark with fuel injection. It also has a quick change cam so if I don't like it it will be a easy fix. Jim

hi jim,any details you can share with us on the quick change cam, photos? and any thing else you,ve got in the pipeline is very interesting to hear about, apologies to original poster if im hijacking

Whoa! cant get more Big Bang than that Jim! I've been restless thinking about how that helped dirt racers so will also work a treat on tarmac power planting.

Educational details to make a door to switch cams with crank cases in place.
I'm not a seasoned builder like real Nortoneers here, only so much life left for a dream machine, so collected best I could at the time then pulled trigger to get it.

To lower Peels dynamic CR to ~7.5 to kick over and use 91 octane, I selected Norris D+, drag only profile. To pack in over 100% mixture by mid range rpm I also selected Norris D+ with smallish ports. Is this cam similar to yours or is it more or less 'aggressive'? What two cams are on hand? What is your expected power figures? Peel should run pretty good w/o booster engaged.

Three things keep me interested to get back out for another smack down, the lack of sense of a motorbike under me, the forgiving chassis in turns and the power pulse planting on narrow tire edges.

Since this is on my streetbike-daily rider I will be using a very mild cam. I suspect I will end up with my previous favorite street cam which is a plain old 4s grind with 3 inch radius lifters but I have a few other choices I can play with. Jim

I've still got to decide which balance factor to use. I'm using the stock weight crank, kinda like a heavy V-8 flywheel. Mabey I need a heavier crank for more traction, or mabey a weight on the end of the crank where the stator attaches. I'm using an ARD ignition, driven off the cam.

45 laps last night at an indoor electric cart place, and I am a bit sore, mostly lat's. a few red spots here and there. And all this bf has been interesting reading. Mabey i'll go with stock bf this time. Or do 2 cranks, 1 stock & 1 @ ?

Ok, Jim, had me going when ya showed that bright new cam shaft and poked us with its power potential. I've had a race only tune in public and watched closely race bikes in easy pits riding and don't see any issue to ride em as tame as a baby buggy until its ok to give it the gas. I hope my detuned set up on Peel keeps her pussy cat tame down low in parking lots and woods.

To have a chance with animals I've studied up on them reverse trikes. To envision serious corner competition going by what I've experienced on Peel, those hot shot Race Karts are more what i need to contest with for pecking order in parking lots and where ever. Have you ever imagined racing your bike into a closed garage to race right back out, I have. Don't know if I can, but sure felt like I could on prior Peel. Think and stew about that maneuver, would ya brake going in, at apex or just use power like ballistic thrusters on space shuttle.

Can you imagine playing with guys level of fun? Why not? This is where i think phase 5 upright straight steering on smoking tire will be required.

The last time I was out on a kart it was a 125cc shifter kart on a road course in Denver. Spent all day and had a great time. Took a few days before I could take a deep breath or raise my arms. My sides were completely black and blue.
I suspect your BF will be happiest around 65-68 but trial and error is the only way to tell. Jim

Ok glad you guys living it on on nature's little sideways G's force machines. Do your motorcycles give ya cornering G's enough to make breathing hard too? How would ya act and sound if it did? Who would believe ya on your word alone?

Some wide Karts in sharp chicane.

Back on 2 wheels corner cripple excitement. Show everything I fear on moderns.
Don't be that impressed with the slides, its pretty automatic control if ya got room to let it run out. The trick is keep power pressure on w/o going wide or wild.
