hi
does anyone know if a corbin seat will fit the early fastback commando I e mailed Corbin and they said they don't know as the one they make fits the 850 models

Not only that, but the one they make for the 850 fits the Roadster models only.
(Unless you shorten the corbin, to make it fit the Interstate, as some here have done).

The tank on the roadster is quite short.
The Fastback tank comes back a fair bit further.
You'd have to shorten the Corbin to fit too (?).

The mudguard/fender fitting arrangement is different too, so that may also get in the way...

Does anyone know if Corbin was sold in the last few years?? Rumor was it was up for sale some time back.

Not sure if it is sold but it was on the market for sometime ?
I have a Corbin on my DR650 and one on one of my TL1000's,not a bad (heavy) seat and good for 1000km days but Corbin must have the worst customer liaison on the planet. (If you can get a reply)

your right on the customer liaison took about 2 weeks to get a reply from them and they didn't know the answer ....you would think if a company made a product they would know what models it would or would not fit !
thanks for the answers
Sean

I think Mike is just waiting for anyone to make the right offer.

I rode down and had one put on a CB750F a couple years ago, they were great. I can see why they would lack on long distance customer service though. They have a MASSIVE stock of seatblanks and they seem to be insanely busy. I believe you can send your original seat to them and have it modified if you want.

I've been looking at the "Smuggler" model seat with the locking compartment for my 74 850, but some of the comments about poor customer service are concerning. Have any of you purchased one of these? Any comments would be appreciated.--Thanks,Mike.

Its not so much the service but trying to contact them even when wanting to buy something.
It is probably better to phone Corbin with any quires (They would hear it ringing and have to pick up eventually  )

When I wanted a Corbin for my DR in 2008 I think, multiple emails off their site went unanswered,I then emailed the agent here in Australia two times (Harley Davidson type set up,stick on beards and all that)
No replies from them either, rice burner perhaps (all over some two months)
I emailed Jeff at Procycle in the US,he got aCorbin seat ordered in under 12 hours from sending the email to him.
It was around a three week wait to have it made and as I remember US$100 (US$479 iirc) to post it since the base is made out of Mallory metal disguised as fibre/fiber glass.
It is a good product all the same.

corbin seat ?

Thanks! I guess I'm concerned how they would treat a customer if a problem developed down the road. I've also heard stories about quality going downhill, but every company has quality issues from time to time.I'ts how they handle it that's important!----Mike.

I recently (6 months ago) purchased the Gunfighter seat from them.

Quality was fine, but as frequently mentioned above, customer service sucks. I e-mailed asking about status on time to deliver (hadn't heard anything) and finally got a reply the day AFTER it was in my hands.

I bought my Gunfighter seat at the Gilroy, CA factory. Pleasant people to deal with. Now, the Florida store may be a different matter, altogether. The service I have experienced in the 13 years I've lived in Florida has been sketchy to nonexistent.

CNW sells them for the same price as getting it directly from Corbin (don't know if they carry the fastback). I got mine from them, shipped next day as always. No issues with the quality/product.

I have been sitting on a Corbin seat for about 135,000 miles now. I am very happy with the quality of their seats and will continue to use their products on all of my future bikes. A few years ago, I ordered one for my Kawasaki ZX14. When I took it out of the box, I immediately knew I didn't like the texture and wanted to return it. After some rather frustrating time on the phone, they agreed to take it back and recover it. They even arranged for UPS to stop by my house and pick it up. Read the small print on the receipt. It reads "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL CASH OR CREDIT REFUNDS BE OFFERED". I took my Commando down to their factory in Hollister to have it custom fitted. I met Mike Corbin personally. He's a rather pleasant fellow. They gave me a tour of the factory. It's a busy place. The factory is HUGE! If I remember right, they ship around 100 seats out daily and have about 1800 seat molds for various bikes. If they don't have a mold for your fastback, they will make one from scratch. That is if you can get them the bike. I watched them make a seat from scratch, start to finish, for a custom sportster. The guys there are very proficient at what they do. It's very impressive to watch the process.
