Gents,

Due to unrelenting pressure from my young daughters, I'm gonna have to abandon my nice, selfish, single seat set up on the Commando!

I was thinking of going the Interstate tank route as the seat is longer and leaves more room for pillions. Not to mention, more room for fuel!

But I've been spoiled by my Corbin seat, and in comparison, the stock Interstate seats all look a little, err, unstylish.

Are there any nice alternative options out there?

Eddie,
Unstylish they certainly are, but they are very comfy, 300 miles is no problem. They are also very roomy. Add the fact that the Interstate tank IS the most beautiful petrol tank ever to grace a motorcycle. Do it!

Martyn,

Surely you mean the Interstate is the second most beautiful tank , after a UK spec T160 tank that is !

Can't see such a seat on their web site GP.

Martyn, I hear ya, but I actually prefer the Roadster set up visually at least. But at 6ft tall, I reckon the Inter will be more comfy for me and my passengers.

I love my Interstate seat with standard footpegs and a slightly taller than stock handlebar

Yea I thought Swooshdave had a picture of one which he posted on his bike rally events some time ago but I can't find it.

Keep the selfish single for the inevitable marital disputes. Then have a stock interstate for the love-ly times. My wife just told me how much more comfy the new interstate seat is ,( with the higher mileage tank there too ... so less frequent stops to stretch etc. ) It is more comfy than the Roadster seat for sure. The most comfy seat I ever had ( long disintegrated ) was hard and dished with a sharp rise at the back for good rear of butt support ! :!:

I have seen that Corbin two-up saddle before also. I think it was called "Gunfighter and Lady" or some such wild west theme.

^that seat is obviously nice.
it looks really modern on the old bike.

It is an Interstate seat option, but "cool"? I dont think so. I would stick with my stock Interstate seat over that one. Way cooler, IMHO.

Hi
Here you also have a proposal for Interstate saddle.
It's a little tweaking, but it was not difficult to make.
Moved saddle 4-5 cm backwards then cut off and adjusted the noses of the saddle
Because it is slightly to long

Matt @ CNW has Corbins modified for his Interstate builds, most likely can get them directly from Corbin

I just received build #119 from Matt with a single seat Corbin. I am putting the stock seat back on it (much to Matt's displeasure) But, I want to be able to take the occasional lass for a ride LOL

Last pic is 119 before CNW build, and electric start conversion, but I am going back to the stock "two up" seat

Thanks for the input gents.

I checked out British cycle and saw their 'stepped' custom seat offerings, I've seen them on some bikes that look good, and other that look less good. Re Corbin, I have Corbin solo seats in both Roadster and Interstate versions. I'm really not sure about their dual seat version, it looks a tad modern to me, but they do not seem to list one anymore anyway so its a moot point.

So, on balance, I guess it looks like a stock Interstate seat for me.

Is the Corbin Interstate seat comfortable with rearsets, & do you have a photo?

Not tried mine yet Martyn so I couldn't say how comfortable it is (I haven't got my tank finished yet). But I suspect it will be fine as the seating position is actually the same as the roadster. Its the same seat in the same location, just has the front chopped off.

Vidar and G81 posted pics of theirs on previous page. Its a nice looking set up IMHO.

How about a pic of yours...?

What I find with the Interstate, euro bars and the std pegs is my hips seize as the pegs are too far forward, so before refitting the tank I will be fitting rearsets.
