Not to worry wartorn I dropped the big names I pestered for most a year to let ya know we did not over look any sizes of exit hole placements to the thread mounting holes from all -off the shelf- plunger type releases. The fins are a big issue to get past to reach the rather meager metal thickness to actually tap/thread. I found out hard way in 6+hp chain saw when renewing worn out cylinder- they have to be made special to accept bore release, so good thing my saw starts one or 2 pulls by both throwing it away from me as I jerk handle towards me. I got a leg and electric starter protector solution but ain't implemented it yet till other priorities done.

Pretty funny. My original question is two and a half years old. Somebody finally answered the question that revitalized this thread as to the difference in starting an Atlas vs Commando. As for my wife, I decided to buy her a Ducati!

And a very sensible decision too Russ!

A friend of my wife came to visit us. She was riding a VFR400 Honda. It was easier to kick-start than a commando. However it was a bit difficult to get your foot up to handle bar height.

So...She was'nt a pole dancer then? or in this case a Bar dancer

:D

Both these show starting the bike from the right side with the side stand out.
From other posts on this forum I've gotten the impression this is a no no due to possible breaking of weld at frame.
I use the center stand as a general rule but in a pinch without a stand out, mostly because in order to get enough of a down stroke force I really need to get up high, making a chance of tip over a concern.
