Seems to be my luck, but while having an absolutely great ride today on my MK 3, the speedo suddenly started holding at 30 mph and the needle jumped like it was having a seizure. Having just sent my Atlas speedo off to Joel Levine- no results yet- I'm kind of pissed that I'll be out another $250+ based on what happened today.
Here's my dilemma- I'd like to replace the CDO speedo with a digital unit, but am completely uniformed and scared to death on wiring a digital unit to my existing wiring harness.
Any thoughts? Again, I am not a person who knows anything about wiring.

Do you have any friends who are skilled with wiring?

I just did mine and I am color blind.
I had my kids help me with the color codes.
It really was quite simple to do.
Just calibrated them again this morning.
Check them out. Tom Kullen was a great help too.

I'm packing up today to head to the INOA rally in Oregon and plan on having a decent supply of Smiths Gauges with me along with the new Commando triple clamps
and example of the new adjustable rear sets. The small Smiths factory in Wales is slowly starting to catch up with all my back orders. I am not sure what the cell or internet service will be at the campground but will be able to ship on the road as long as I can get internet and find a Post Office. See you there?

Cheers,

Beautiful instruments. A few years back, Lee Patterson and I rode to the Michigan Rally. Lee on his BMW LT, I on my 1975 Norton, stock gauges on the Commando. I also used a GPS. The mileage on the BMW odometer was way off, about 250 miles on a 1200 mile trip. The Commando odometer was in sync with the GPS, couple of miles difference.

I am very happy with my digital speedo and tacho. +1 from me. Allow a full morning to install and setup.

You are lucky to be in the states, i recently took delivery from "Speed Hut", i set it up in my van to see it working and it seems to be very acurate, so when the bike is up and running it should prove good, wiring is easy, and no drive cable hassle!

Have you tried lubing the speedo? Pull the cap off the threaded portion where the cable connects and shoot in some wd-40 or similar. You can work it in with a drill on reverse.
