Dear All,
Thanks to your prompt and clever support, I've been able to carry out the installation this morning.
Just to recap' and if it may help, here is what I did:
- I used only Commando parts (brake plate / drum / wheel / spacers / shims / spindles ...), not Dommie ones neither a mix of Dommie and C'do parts.
- I installed first the left hand side (dummy spindle, LH spacer, Brake plate and brake drum), then the wheel (no problem at all with the rubbers to push it against the spacer protruding out of the drum bearing), the speedo gearbox, the RH spacer and the spindle.
- Once tightened on both sides (starting with the LH), I've been able to check the sprockets alignement (which is OK), the proper operation of the brake and the free rotation of the wheel.
- With the wheel installed on the swing arm like described here above and the swing arm clamped in a vice, I've re-centered the rim which is now aligned with the drum (zero offset) and perfectly centered in the swing arm.
One reason for my problems is that the rim had a 15 mm offset to the right whereas I understand from your comments and pictures that it is normally aligned on the hub center on a Commando wheel.
Merci beaucoup. Enjoy your rides!
