Need some advice please. I am no Norton expert.
I moved to Spain and as I was super busy just prior to retiring got some work done on my Norton to give me a head start when I got here. The clutch was working fine with light lever due I believe the RGM clutch litening plate that was fitted. The mechanic took that out saying it is rubbish and fitted another plate. The clutch now slips badly.
Q. I have a set of 4 sureflex fibre plates (new 3.6mm) 1) Do I need special steel plates or are they the same.
2) Is there an optimum stack height to work to ( I do this on machinery clutches).
Any other advice greatfully recieved.
Regards Bob.

Many swear by the all-metal clutch pack, but I always had slippage when the engine would get on the pipe. Changed over to Barnett fiber plates and no slippage since. Multiple r&rs to clean of the clutch only temporarily alleviated the issue.

The plain plates are the same for both the 4-friction plate and 5 friction plate clutches but you do need the thicker (4 friction plate clutch) pressure plate.
If, by RGM lightening plate you mean their alloy pressure plate then perhaps the "mechanic" replaced it with a thinner 5 friction plate pressure plate, or somehow ended up with the wrong stack height?
