I have bought a 1974 Norton Commando MK1 Interstate. On inspection I have noticed that the clocks have 'MADE IN FRANCE' on them. Both have the classic green DOTS. Both have the Norton logo. Both have the same serial number of 09200909900.

Does anyone know if this is normal (France) or has anyone got a similar machine?

It's my first Norton so I am grateful for any help.

Thanks.

Yes, quite normal, as Veglia instruments were also used (in pairs) from 1973-on, as well as the Smiths type.

Supposedly, the Veglia instruments were fitted to the Interstate models, and Smiths instruments to Roadsters, but this wasn't always necessarily adhered to, so Smiths or Veglia instruments could be found on any '73-on model. The Veglia instruments are deeper than the Smiths type and the 73-on Black instrument pods are deeper in order to accomodate the Veglias.

Smiths instruments were also fitted to the deeper pods, but needed extension bolts.

1975-on Smiths and Veglia instruments have the Blue and White NVT (Norton Villiers Triumph) logo, instead of the Green Norton Globe.

The Veglia speedo I have is type 09190919900?
