I would like to build a radical chopper . Is it possible to buy square wheels ?

Alan this non racer-cafe' chopper thread may not be good for your blood pressure but indeed square wheels have been fitted to many obnoxious cycles. Here's some teasers to picture with extended forks ahead of a sexy canted Commando engine.

Mythbusters did square wheel experiments for interesting results, none of which apply to choppers or cafe's though they mentioned it at the end.

Sk, I like the way the frame is adapted to drop seat and raise a forward stance and the welding as molding to blend forces and eye ball following. From practical long distance chopper peg boot bottom forward riding on my past Peel, I can tell ya that putting the forward peg that high and close to frame is not very comfortable as knees still bent about as much as the stock Commando. I suggest you sit and put feet out where legs feel relaxed then make up extended peg mount to suit. My long legs require foot pegs about as forward as the fork legs. Commandos are a bit shorter than the big ole baggers or other big V twin choppers. Though cramped hot shot cafe's all love the image of always tucked down racing to this cafe or that liquor or grocery store, they are all mostly staying quite legal just puttering around all cramped up like a fetus with old man aches and pains to stretch out, off their bikes after rather short rides to endure.

Chopppers must be loud so long open barely baffled headers helps out the down low grunt and gut thumping exhaust. Wax it good before showing up at Norton rally, so the trash thrown at you don't stick.

I had to put the cruise pegs high to clear the exhaust. They are basically a place to move the feet on a longer ride. I do know they could be outstretched further, but one also has to take aesthetics into account.
They are what they are for now.
The frame was lowered in the rear many moons ago, so those that see this don't need to hate me too much. It was already butchered. I just refined the cuts a little with my own rear fender and shock supports.
Now its on to the color, just cant decide.
Also engine rebuild, I have most of the parts, just have to bore and hone, and do some head work. Which I have access to all required machinery to do so. Besides I wouldn't send anything off if I don't have to.
I'm getting excited for spring.
So when are we going to roll into one of those meets? Freshly waxed of course!

Sherman, set the wayback machine to 1977!

Hobot, we submit for your approval one wicked bad ass chopper. Fishtail pipe, hmm, hmm, hmm... yummy. Nice lines for the forks/hi-rise bars, long straight shot - looks trick. The big white wall on the back, however, has gotta' go...

No pesky side panels here, pure open view of that awesome Norton mill. What ?!? no open belt drive, I smell fun time, spend some dough, or better yet talk about it endlesssly, esp whan drinking as in "Know, what Ima gonna do? Huh, know what Ima gonna do? Ima gonna put a belt drive on 'er. One these days, ima gonna do that"

Complete with "Norton-Davidson logo"...(Harley frame?) And a decent red paintjob looking at these photos, my favorite color for a vehicle. At least it is not green, green is bad luck on a bike, esp. a chopper... (HD lore, look it up.)

Commando Choppers please

Two square headlamps set up on the forks, and a totally bitchin' skull (hope it has red lamps in the eyeballs!) Other than the (spoiler alert - don't read this if you don't want to spoil the upcoming surprise) spider web stitched into the seat, only one skull and the seat decoration...this bike has an understated chopper elegance. Too many scooters have too many skulls, crosses, and paint jobs inspired by dragons or Conan the Barbarian for my taste, but to each their own.

Commando Choppers please

Bunch of cool spikes on the front forks, and a red anodized horn visible.

Commando Choppers please

E-start 850, with a shifter mod for the front footpegs, of course. Red anodized details abound. Check out the radical spiderweb stitching on the classic spring seat. I don't see much evidence of isolastics and looks to be a real hard tail all the way - this baby will shake yer teeth out.

Right side; funky rear fender bracket, custom kicker, chrome tool box. Points are open, pipe tape tired and ready to go, ouch, this old girl needs a little TLC. And wonder how effective that pipe tape is? Here in Arizona, any extra heat is too much.

Commando Choppers please

Rear view, that is a real P-pad, not for the faint of heart, nor, shall we say, a, "clear throat," a, ahh, well, umm, a BBW, (trying not to be insensitive here, back in the day a guy would just say "fat chick" and be done with it) and certainly not for much more than a ride to the bar. No detailed shot of the tail lamp, the right lamp/housing would really set this bitchin' sled off.

Might sound like I am making fun of this scoot, but I really like it. However, my 74 restore is too much $ already for my budget. This bike is spendy at $7K, located in Sun City, Arizona on Craigslist. Dude must be ready to upgrade to a golf cart. Likely will never sell, he has it listed under "auto parts" not "motorcycles", why I do not know. I will probably send him an e-mail and let him know. I came on it serendipitously, was looking at the ever dwindling supply of Austin Healey parts, typed in "Norton" and and forgot to change to motorcycle search and voila, the Norton E Start Chopper. Kismet, maybe I should buy it, might be my magic carpet ride, take me back to 1977 to do it all over again?

Just converted my Interstate ... e-gad (!) ... into a Hi-Rider 8) I'm thinkin' pics of the Norton "factory" chopper is appropriate for this here thread, yesirree. Hard to believe a seat, gas tank, and hi handlebars can make such a difference in it's looks, and the way it is to ride. I agree with the general consesus that the seat is not only "goofy", but darn ugly as well. Perhaps one of the Norton factorys 70's fashion statements :?: ... along with all the "sparkly" metalflake "colours"

However, it sure is comfy siitin' though, leaned back and just enjoying the ride. Added bonus ... arm-pit hairs are cooled off in the breeze, on hot summer days. :D Yeah baby !!!

Its does not look right because its missing the iconic sissy bar. Then may have to resist urge to take over small towns and have your way with the women.

Damn Hobot where did you find that photo ...that is the schwinn I wanted when I was a kid. Except I wanted the yellow one, but it was too expensive so I had to settle for a bike from K-mart :)

Looks good, Nortriubuell... just in time for summer.

Its similar to what we used to call a banana seat bike. I had English 3 spd racer with under slung bars, but my favorite one single speed 26" wheel light frame American bike wtih yellow banana seat and side racks. No fenders no cables no mirror but did have head light. Ms Peel will have several sissy bars one like 4 ft over seat with camera mount and an aerial above that with a flag or tassle and LEDs.

TORque vs HP or 70 hp old ratty Chopper vs fancy new 180 Sportbike shoot out. Just imagine if either one could tuck the front way down first.
