Thanks, i prefer the roadster style myself, but i wanted to restore the bike as it was. These are SS straight through silencers and they kind of grew on me. Although i had no idea how hard it would be to get those pipes reassembled and alighned correctly!

Did you make the shifter lever? What is the tank treatment you used? Don't you go crosseyed looking at the instruments? ; )

Thanks Guys. to answer a few questions the extra gauges are volt meter and oil pressure, yes the rear sets were fabbed by hand, the tach and speedo are close to clear the fairing.

Renniek i treated the tank with Caswell, i havent put gas in it yet and only intend on using non ethanol racing gas in it as that is what the PO did, and the tank looked like new inside.

What do you mean, 'restore the bike as it was'? As far as I know the only 'original' S types were 69-70 types. Anything else with S pipes is made up, at least in my book, not that I don't like them. But as you say they are a pain in the butt to adjust, you'll probably find the heat shields crack and fall off in about 4-5K miles. You'll be lucky to get 10K on the dog leg bracket. Keep an eye on things getting loose, and don't let it rattle against the primary case. I re-tapped my silencers with 10/32 so I could buy the little SS button head Allen head screws at a reasonable price, and when they disappear it's easier too, I keep them in stock.

Make sure you use good clamps, I use 'Moose' brand, there are others available. I didn't find the 'omega' type acceptable.

Thanks Dave, the PO built the bike as a show bike in 1986, he hand crafted the rearsets, made the fairing and fender from carbon fiber and built the fairing supports. he bought and modified the Gus Kuhn seat, and tank, and did other mods like the S type exhaust.

Next up is getting it running.

looks fantastic, cant deny the s pipes look awesome. Ive been wanting to put a fairing on my bike also, i like that one you have..is that Avon or Dunstall? Where did you get the bracket to support the fairing? also that front fender looks like its from commando specialties.

The front fender, fairing and fairing brackets were all custom made. The bracket is fabbed from stainless steel and aluminum, the fairing and fender were molded off a production racer fairing and laid up in carbon fiber. very light weight.
