Hi again everyone I must have forgotten a lot as back in the day we always managed but this being my baby I want to do it right my triton is running a norton clutch on an AMC norton box with triumph primary cases which I have to remove to find out what the problem is with my centre stand, I have reached the point in the picture but am now at a loss of what to do next do I need to dismantle the cush drive in the centre hub or can it pulled as is and if so are there special tools required and also the 3 large flat screw heads on the front of the centre hub do not appear to want to move and will probably damage the heads if I try much harder so suggestions and advice gladly welcomed and appreciated the same goes for advice on removing the alternator centre from the crankshaft many thanks Chris
clutch problem

There is a special drum-shaped tool with outer male threads to screw into the female threaded centre opening and then tighten down the bolt of the tool against the mainshaft, pushing the clutch assembly off of the mainshaft.

That's great I have one on order how about the alternator centre I am not sure if it is called the rotor thanks Chris

You can draw the alternator rotor off with any 3-jaw puller.

I have a 3" Posi-Lock which is a fantastic puller, although a bit spendy.

DO NOT use any 3-jaw puller for the timing pinion on the crank, you need the special drum shaped one with 3 wide/thin lips to get it in there.

So i need to use a puller of some sort on this alternator centre (rotor) yes, are we misunderstanding each other how does this affect the timing side or cogs thanks Chris
Sorry was not paying proper attention having read your post again it makes complete sense and thanks again for your knowledgeable help
