anybody know if OLD BRITTS sells these? It's aftermarket so wouldn't be listed on their site.

Fred and Ella are retired.

If they did carry them (and I don't think they ever did) there is a section for non-stock (aftermarket) parts on their site.

As does cNw.
The CCRS have been offered to dealers for over 20 years, and until about 1 year ago they never changed price! About 2 years ago I had a thousand made and I'm sure they will not all sell before I'm dead. Old Brits never talked to me about them. Though I have bought a few parts from them.

Matt CNW wanted some and IIRC bought ten. twice. and declared to me he was not going to sell them retail and just use them in his "builds" and listed them on his site.
Quite a long time ago he bought 50 once, then never again, thou he got as cheap a price as any dealer.
Yes amazed to see how greedy to take my design and have them made and sell them for $5 more than mine were.... which are steel to his aluminum ones.

5 of my 6 dealers sell them. I obviously deleted CNW once I found out what matt was doing.....
I'm not surprised many service shops don't sell them because it helps reduce maintenance and they would rather sell more Barnett plates and get money for needless servicing.

I originally made just one for myself in 1988 then guys in my club wanted them and then dealers wanted them. Well somewhere between 6000-7000 sold with some going out whole sale fairly often. The volume over the years is going down so I doubt there is a large market for a second source since the market is now saturated.
Now I'm only selling club/group discount 5+ at a time. For individual ones go to one of my dealers.

Thanks..I have to get one quickly, BCS has one for $37.50. This has never been a problem. The current 850 is pouring through the mainshaft. No idea why this is different. Oil level is where it should be.

I have tried to stay away from the clutch rod seal thread but it is obviously time to make some comments

I did in fact buy the seal that Dave designed and had manufactured years ago

I also had questionable results using it over several years on my own builds. I was still finding oil in the clutch baskets on a regular basis on some machines. I could not figure out why and didn't do anything about it. It worked on others and I felt it was an improvement over not having anything at all. RGM also made a clutch rod seal at one time and I tried that as well without any luck. I don't think they offer it any longer

When it came time to consider all the parts that I wanted and needed for my electric start conversion and stand alone belt drive kit, it was important that I had a seal at the main shaft since I didn't want oil contaminating the clutch plates.

Using Dave's seal was not an option.

I took some time to determine what needed to be done to make a seal I would be happy with.

While similar to the one Dave has, it is not a copy. I am not going to spend time talking about the differences but if you put the two next to each other, you will clearly see how they are different in one respect as far as machining. Another machining difference is not easy to detect unless you know what you are looking for but it is important. It is also dimensionally different and made from 6061 billet rather than steel

So why not talk to Dave about my findings ? Fact is, I have personal issues with Dave and how he does business and I have no interest in working with him in any way. These are things that I wont bring up on a public board of course, so I will just leave it at that.

Believe me, I did not spend time and money to develop this seal thinking it was going to be a money maker. I did it because I needed it for other parts kits that I am offering. I also do sell it as a separate part as a way to pay for the development.

This is the only post I will make in regards to this. I just needed to share my side of the story

Matt
