Are any Solihull bikes out of warranty yet, once they are they cannot stop you ordering parts for a Solihull bike. You just need a VIN range and pick your number and hope its not in being serviced.

I think you may mean ‘ordering parts for a Donington bike’?

I get your point, if the Solihull bikes are out of warranty and may even have changed hands (incl PCP transfer) they are gonna lose track of where these bikes are. Only a prospect for UK owners of course and a slightly skewed band-aid option maybe.

Much better option IMO is to try and appeal to Norton to do the right thing, by supporting this significant number of legacy Norton owners. Also, to stand by their stated values and meet their own flagship ‘Goodwill & Legacy Fullfilment’ campaign. How does providing parts to legacy 961 owners not meet the tenets of this campaign? Denying access seems to contradict them.

I reached out to Norton on instagram, and to my surprise, they messaged me. Asking me for my email and phone number. They did in fact email me. Not to my surprise, they sent the response as follows.

I’m throwing in the towel.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting the Norton Client Services team.

We understand that you are looking for spare parts for a vehicle manufactured before 2022. After consulting with our Parts Team, we regret to inform you that we are unable to confirm the availability of parts for these motorcycles.

As you may know, if you have been following the Norton story, we have been working through the issues left by the previous Norton company, NMUL Realisations Ltd. Although we (The Norton Motorcycle Co. Ltd.) purchased some of NMUL's assets, we did not assume any liability or responsibility for parts or products made and sold by that company. We have found that the parts we inherited came from a variety of sources with very little documentation regarding provenance, quality standards, or compatibility with different models. This means we cannot guarantee that these parts meet the necessary standards to ensure rider safety.

Therefore, we have taken the difficult decision that we cannot sell any parts we have not sourced or tested, nor can we service, maintain, or repair any bikes that we have not built.

This decision was not taken lightly. We invested considerable time and resources into assessing the inherited stock in the hope of finding a way to support owners of earlier motorcycles. However, we believe it would be irresponsible to supply parts or carry out work on motorcycles without being fully confident in the safety, quality and suitability of the components involved.

We had hoped to be able to offer a more positive outcome, but unfortunately this has not been possible given the circumstances and challenges we inherited.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Anna

Don’t throw in the towel. I have received an email back from Judd Racing UK . Go to parts@juddracing.com they said they will order parts for me.

Surely all we need to do is write saying we accept the fact that the parts may not fit and would like to go ahead with the purchase ( so long As they send the correct parts).

Hi Tony,

Can you please expand on your posts. Sounds like you’ve received a positive response back from Judd which is great - was it specific to you or did it have general comment about providing spares in future? Thanks.

That would definitely be needed in any response Cliff; along with a few clarifications I think👍.

Wondering whether you may have requested parts specific to your 961 Dommie, in your request on Insta? If that’s the case, that may partly explain that particular reply from Norton. Would be useful to know so we can work out what’s going on. Thanks.
