I like the idea. Any personal inputs, issues? Maybe powder coating would be as good?

Maybe nickel would give a more vintage look? Either way, it would look good.
 
Mine are chrome with polished long type clock holders. I think they look good an far better than silver paint.
Go for it .

I am currently building a mk 3 for a local....... and they too are chrome with long type clock holders.
Popular choice.
 
There are some nice alloy triptrees available from a forum member!! if you want different .. You might find that the expense of chroming will go a long way close to a "new" product. :D :D :D ..
 
I did 'chrome' powder coat. Not chrome, but it matched the original paint pretty well and looks clean. Depends on what you want.

Was at the powder coat guy yesterday, sure seems like there would be a close color match there somewhere.
