checking cam lift specs at the rockers

I'm getting ready to wind the small projects down and hopefully start to put some miles on the MK3 but before I roll it out I'm very concerned over the cam issues I've read about.
My bike shows around 6500 miles on the speedo, now the numbers match but how knows right? I assume given the original condition overall its not too far off.

Kenny at NYC left me a cam at the shop to look at and it was hard to believe a bike could run with so little lift!

I've am running a 34mm Mukini single and feel the bike is rather underpowered and weak. Valve clearances were fine when checked, ignition (new old brits PA) and carb ok. Either those chambered peashooters are plugged up tight, the cam is worn or its me being too used to modern power and torque.

Could someone offer advice on using a dial to check my cam lift on this MK3? I assume I need a lift for intake and exhaust but is it directly proportional to the cam lift specs without moving the rocker arm off the shaft? Thank you

A stock MK3 cam has around .330 lift at the lifter.

X 1.1 rocker ratio ratio makes it .363 at the valve. Approximately.

It's not going to be a ball of fire with a single Mikuni and a PA ignition.....

Thank you! I know what to look for now. I'm hoping its good enough for a few short seasons or maybe 8k miles. By then I'll be looking for add a cam, carbs or find a different bike to play with.:)

Is that more the fault of the single Mikuni or the ignition? I'm running a stock 850 with twin Amals and a PA.

The carb is the biggest loss. Jim

Thanks, I was hoping I wasn't missing out on too much go due to the PA ignition.
