Last week volt meter shows alternator is charging the battery when rpms boosted from idle.

THEN

Today I attempted to clean up the wiring of the alternator wires.

Said wires come out of the back of the primary and connect (in no particular order) to the two yellow wires coming out of the boyer power box.

Shrink wrapped the alternator wires to the yellow wires.

Now, volt meter show no increase when rpms are increased from idle. Battery not getting charged.

Is it possible that I disturbed the flow by shrink wrapping the yellow power box wires together, in that now their ends connected to the alternator wires could be touching each other?

Sounds very possible that they could be shorted together. Don't run the bike too long or the stator will be damaged if they are shorted. Jim

Thanks Jim.

I need to ride it 10 miles to a friend with a lift and the tools.

Can I relieve the possible damage when riding over there by removing the lead from the power box to the negative terminal and or also the power box ground wire?

Or will this possible damage occur just because the wires may be touching regardless of anything I can do in the short term?

thanks

If the wires from the stator are shorted it will damage the stator even if the battery wires are disconnected. I wouldn't ride it without separating the stator wires. Jim
