Charge light question.

Greetings.

I am getting a 72 interstate back on the road. I ordered a cNw starter, and a few misc parts. I will build my own wiring harness. The charge light is connected to one side of the stator. Will the assimilator still work if I use a podtronics regulator?
 
It can, but will require a wiring modification. Ask Matt how it is done.
Better yet, buy an oil pressure switch from; Madass140, on this forum
and use that light to warn you of low/no oil pressure. I'd rather know
that my engine is about to blow rather than if my battery is not charging.

Or get a device that will show the pressure AND charging with one light.

I will be installing this shortly as soon as I find a place for the light. I can't see the headlight with the fairing on.
 
@10drum here is a wiring diagram for a 72 that contains a cNw starter (using the original handlebar switchgear), a Podtronics reg/rec and a Tri-Spark electronic ignition.

It retains the original warning light assimilator.

These are the typical cNw upgrade recommendations, so I assume you have got similar.

Thanks gtiller, I have that diagram, and I like it, much easier to follow than the Norton, (or about any motorcycle) schematic. I usually make what is called a ladder diagram for my harnesses. I will also incorporate an oil pressure switch instead of the charge light.
