I'm getting ready to put a new chain and front sprocket on my '73 750 hirider. Currently the chain has ~20mm for the pin length. I'd like to go with a DID or RK chain, ideally I'd put on a DID 530 NZ but the pin length is 22.55mm. The standard DID 530 is 20.3 mm so it would work, but it's 6930 lbs tensile vs 8600 lbs tensile. Which is why I'd like to go with the 530 NZ.

Anyone know if the 22.55mm pin length will work?

I'd prefer to not just mount it and let it eat it's way through the primary.

Thanks!

It will eventualy, after chewing away at the cases, no it doesn't really fit, I did try one, rubed on chain guard and cases, also you can nearly buy 2 std chains for the price of the nz.

Depends on alignment and your individual bike's dimensions/tolerances etc. I used to use a DID HD (NZ?) with 23mm split pin length and had no problems. My current setup is 520 'O' ring which is 21mm across split link pins. Don't think the tensile difference is a problem as it's the pin and roller wear thru lack of lube that causes the stretch.

The standard DID 530 is 20.3 mm so it would work, but it's 6930 lbs tensile vs 8600 lbs tensile.

And just how much power are you putting out? Or is this an 800lb "GoldWing" Norton? I've run several of the standard DID 530 chains with no ablnormal wear or stretch. Even on a modified 850 cafe racer.

One trick is to turn the master link around so the clip is on the inside (facing the wheel) to get more clearance. The master link's posts are taller than the posts on the rest of the chain. I tried DID 530 HD once and there was not enough clearance on my '72 combat unless I decided to go into the metal paste business. So I stick with Renold which seem to last a long time, or I think an RK would do fine. I'm still on my original sprockets with 35000 miles on them.

Standard power and no ballast weights other than my own butt :)

Thinking the standard 530 will probably be just fine. I always like to go overkill just to feel better :) Guess you all saved me ~$40!
