I have a freshly rebored 850cc engine at +0.020" that is to be assembled with NOS genuine AE pistons. Will this benefit from having the bores impregnated with carbide or will the treatment lead to problems of beding new rings in etc. ???
Also with stock type (long skirt) pistons is it just a waste of time an something only really needed for lightweight type (short skirt) pistons. ??
What would be the possible improvement in bore life if i went a head an had bores impregnated??

Not necessary but It definitely will improve the bore life.
Add a chrome top piston ring and you will be good for many miles. Jim

Search Bore Tech and/or Nickle carbride coating for reviews and ph to call them direct. Basically can expect 3x's bore life plus better heat transfer out rings and maybe less friction so as much for the next fella as yourself in mind. No new cast iron barrels I know of so limited number to keep the faith going. LIghtness is Rightness and reports in short skirts last about like other pistons unless ruining em like crazy racers into ring flutter and heat expanded bore piston slap only a special crank can stand with cam/head that flows that much. Tie extra response and smoothness may tempt to to racer play.
