On the 2S legend... It might as well be a JS1. There weren't any JS1 cams when I put it in there. Not bragging about it. It just is.
My bike only feels like it pulls away from my hands a tiny bit when I get too comfortable daydreaming and whack the throttle in 2nd. I forget that it actually can move forward in a hurry with more than mild throttle input. It's no big deal, just a little 750, but it definitely doesn't go flat above 5500RPM. What it won't do that a stock motor might do is pull hard going up a hill in 3rd if I've already started up the incline at 25mph. I've tried it a few times, mostly by mistake. I either have to downshift into 2nd, where I should have been in the first place, or ease my way into the throttle forever.
Is climbing a hill in 3rd from 25mph on the incline an easy task for a stock 850? I am not knowing..

I guess it would depend on how steep the hill is.
They are quite good at giving a good shove without a lot of revs needed.
There is no power band with the stock 850, the throttle is like a rheostat and there is good torque everywhere.
For a lot of the riding around here, this is quite wonderful.
Sometimes it's fun to ride a bike that has a powerband.
I did ride a new Combat in 73 and that 2 stroke like powerband sticks in the memory. There was a definite "calm before the storm" that accentuated the high rpm pull.
The engine blew up at 1500 miles, so the fun was short-lived.
