Camplate gearbox and quadrant assembly

Dear All,
After these holidays I have to replace the gearbox.
I only have one difficulty, from manuals don't understand perfectly how to position the camplate and his gearbox quadrant assembly.
Please use terms for me to understand, I have difficulty translating very technical phrases.

The trick i go by as manual too crude to illustrate, is to assemble cam and quadrant knuckle so the knuckle lands as close to the case rim as can be - yet still -just- allows cover to clear to close.

Pierot,

I have found it best to assemble the inner gearbox cover onto the gearbox shell with the quadrant and camplate in position but with no other parts in the box apart from the detent plunger in position. This will make sure that the quadrant does not hit the case when either 1st gear or 4th gear position is selected. I then remove the inner case and only then start to assemble the rest of the gearbox components.

What we mean is the quadrant end knuckle ends up as close to the inside edge of inner cover as possible and yet still barely clears contact or fouling by like 1/32". Cover will fit on with knuckle end about 1/16" away and seem fine but the shifting won't work once assembled. Commandos are a will power tester for me to repeat trial error assembly till finally functions.
 
Pierodn - Have you seen the DVD by Mick Hemmings about gearbox re-building? It is very helpful as he disassembles and re-assembles completely right in front of you. I believe it is available from INOC. I think you would find it helpful.

I have never seen beore the DVd.
Les already explained me very well about.
But i would like to buy the DVD and i will write to INOC to buy it: is not vey cheap!!!!

I saw the web page of NOC, but i can not buy the DVD because is for members only, and i am not.
Someone sell the DVD to non NOC's members?

Yes you will have to buy the DVD from the INOA as you are not a UK NOC member (I posted the NOC webpage to show the DVD information as it is a product of the UK NOC) .
 
Dear Les,
INOC only have to sell the NTSC format.
I believe it dont play on european DVD player but i think it could play with PC ????
What do you think about???

NTSC normally plays in Windows Media Player, and should definitely play in VLC player on Microsoft Windows.
I have no trouble playing NTSC on an Apple Mac, using either VLC or DVD Player.
I strongly recommend you watch the video before you attempt to work on your gearbox.
The language used by Mick Hemmings in the videos is very "non-technical".
 
I bought the DVD trough the kindly interesting of Les.
I hope to learn more than i just know, but i believe that everybody never stop learning.
I will see and see and more the movie and I will try to replace the gearbox with eyes closed!!!!!
