Are the cam followers from 650 and 750 Norton twins interchangeable with the cam followers on the 500cc twin? I've got 750cc cam followers and am looking to buy a 500cc barrel that is missing them.

I think they are interchangeable but will give a different valve timing . probably best to use the later daytona cam with them.

I'm not sure, but knowing Norton they're very likely to be the same.
Ask the seller of the barrel what the ID of the bottom of the follower tunnels are - very likely to be 30mm, same as my 650.
My guess is that will be the diameter of a pair of your 750 followers?
Cheers

Oh - I was unaware that raised followers had been used on stock Norton twins @norton bob !

So they went from Flat for the singles (ES2 et al) to radiused on the Model 7 then flat again for later Dominators and Commando?
Sorry to sound doubtful but that sounds odd to me.
Cheers

Just checked my 750cc followers. They are 30mm in diameter and flat. I got some information from another member which confirmed that the early 500 used radius lifters.

I think the early radiused followers have been tried on the later cams to alter the timings , Increased lift may cause problems with std springs ?. Cant see any point in using flat followers with the early cams when the later Daytona and SS cams are easy to find. An SS cam in a M7 engine would also need some stronger pushrods and different valve springs , not sure I would want to thrash this combo as the rods /crank/ barrel are now very old and a bit weak. The Daytona cam used sensibly would be my choice.
