Lockheed Oem calipers on my 1975 mk3 were rebuilt by myself last year and recently I noticed The caliper I mounts to the rear of the bike has an "F" stamped on the back of the body, the other (now on the front) does not.

Are the orifices identical? I'm concerned there is a difference and want to insure I've got things right. Thx Ken

The standard Norton Lockheed Commando caliper assembly 1972-on is part 061926, the Mk3 front and rear calipers are identical assemblies (both are 061926) as far as I'm aware.

Len, I've noticed that the later Locheed calipers have a bevel on the inner lower edge. Thought it may improve spoke clearance. The original ones on my MK3 have p/n's stamped on them but I'm not home for another week to check them.

Caliper difference.

My Mk3's rear caliper would seem to have the bevel but the front one does not, although there's less spoke clearance at the front. The front caliper is stamped "A13B". There's nothing is stamped on the rear caliper as far as I can tell.

Front:
Calipers universal?

Rear:
Calipers universal?

The answer to this - Yes calipers are universal, the chamfer you see was a later update affecting the machining of the later castings.

Interesting. Will an earlier one fit to my MK111 rear wheel ? I only ask after polishing one up this winter (with stainless items) for fitting to it that is earlier . A 73 I think. Obviously don't want to snag or clip spokes of the right side. Hopefully no problems.

The chamfer doesn't seem entirely necessary for the rear wheel. I doubt you will have any clearance problems.
