Sorry if this has been brought up. While leafing through Cafe racer I came across a familiar Norton special.
It was an alloy-tanked monoshock Commando. The text: "His Commando breaks more rules than a pugnacious soccer hooligan...". Who could they be talking about? Well, Granpaul, of course! Kudos Paul. :D

A big smiling nod from me too having seen his mono shock in the flesh. I loved the description you quoted but he'd much more proper in the flesh than his motorcycles.
His righteous springer Triumph in old school style also is very fine to view.

Too bad they got several items wrong, skewed the photo so the bike looks squashed, and blanked out the Born Again Bikes logo on my trailer...

They reference the swingarms being mounted top-to-top (they're one on top of the other, actually), monoshock linkage being a pair of welded tabs on the frame backbone (it's really a pair of welded up plates and spindles; what they WERE describing was the top mount for the shock), Kehin flat slide carbs (they are plain Amal 32mm concentrics), with accellerator pump (nope), for some reason called it a big bore 880 (it's an overbored 850), and they call the brake rotors 29mm (they're 298mm).

All in all, thier technical references were about half wrong.

The closing sentence is just wierd.

Glad I made it to a national publication, pretty darned disappointed that they got it so wrong

grandpaul, just read the latest issue of cafe racer magazine; and I agree with you completely !!! How did they screw it up so freakin' bad ??? :? And to "blot-out" the "Born Again Bikes " logo ??? Is that some kind of censorship ??? I must admit, I'm torn between  and  Well, IMO they CAN "repent" ... and make this right. Cafe Racer needs to do a FULL FEATURE on your bike in the next issue ... and they need to due a FULL FEATURE on the tv program !!! I luv the program and watch each episode multiple times; what a "treat" it would be to see them do this. So ... I'll be calling by phone tommorow and asking them "nicely". Cheers !!!

I sold the bike, so it's a non-issue to me.

However, they could always come to my place and do a full article/interview on the Blue Dreer monoshcok prototype bike!
