Flying on Southwest, I had to use their app to connect in flight. Their woke virtue signaling directer offered to sell "carbon offsets" for $125.
That word is annoying, and bullshit all in one.

I explained to my wife they are for people wanting to replace the heavier titanium fender brackets.
"Woke" would be my pet peeve at the moment. What does it even mean? Nothing, as far as I can see.
Apparently it originally meant, in Afro-American slang, "Aware of racial prejudice and discrimination".
Now it has become so over-used as to be meaningless.

‘The’ science is one of my pet hates these days. There is science, not the science. Science is made up from critically competing opinions, it is not a monotheism !

On a lighter note, how about ‘awesome’ as in the American version?

You know, waitress says ‘what would you like sir’?

And you answer ‘coffee please’

And she replies ‘awesome’.

No it isn’t. It’s a coffee order.

And she had spent a chapter defining it in her book…

Totally agree
The over use of "awesome" has completely diluted it
"Mysogyny " is another
I had to ask my grandkids what that meant 😂😂😂😂😂

The "opposite" is Misandry - a word that you will never hear in the media. If is hatred of men.
I reckon I could recognise a few who demonstrate that trait.
Have you noticed Misogyny is called out on someone who expressed disapproval for a particular female? No evidence of any research into a behavioural pattern.

I have never heard the term misandry !!!!!
Thanks for sharing that one

Anyone too lazy to speak (I will overlook typing) the complete word.
Especially when it's a BBC presenter!!
'Stats' 'Relis!!' (Not to sure how to spell that one, Vanessa), and where has the letter 't' gone from Radio One??
'Sa'urday' 'Par'y', just substitute a guttural grunt for the missing letter.
Give it a few years and we will be back to talking like cave dwellers...

Nigel, things have changed since 1986.🤣

Sadly, much of it is not for the better.

I'd take the "awesome" back again...

And, the big poofy pharoh like hairdos were hot....

We just call 'em "man-haters" (for the last 35 years)

Too late. The INTENTIONAL mutation of the language is another form of intentional, malicious disrespect.

Another one that irritates me is companies that call themselves ".... Solutions". i.e. Fred Bloggs Plumbing Solutions etc.
That one took root because 3rd, 4th & 5th generation emasculated males are conditioned to believe they are helpless & worthless.

Oh-oh, just remember one of my top choices: "He has GIFTED his art collection..." Dear me! Why not GIVEN? It even
has less letters! What utter nonsense.
