As far as ignition system just take the contact breaker off and all will be revealed...cdafirefighter said:Thanks for all the fast and knowledgeable replies guys, this is exactly the sort of info that I was looking for! I now know what books to buy and will be saving all the links for reference. Tobin, I would love to get involved in the local vintage bike scene, I didn't know that there was a club in spokane. I will send you a email for more info. Paul, this what I know about the bike so far. I looked it over and it is pretty clean and seems to be very complete. I was told that it was rebuilt "from the ground up" maybe 8 of so years ago by a guy who rebuilds brit bikes. My friend told me that it ran very strong and he rode it a fair amount up until about 4 years ago when it started to smoke a little from one of the pipes. My friend believes that this is due to a leaking head gasket. he has always meant to replace the gasket but life intervened and he has not had time to mess with it since. So it has sat in a garage since then. My friend has periodically turned it over with the kick start to circulate some oil and moved it a little to keep the tires from getting flat spots but has not started it. It has a single Mikuni conversion, I am not sure if it has had a electronic ignition installed or not. .
Hi sounds pretty good the Mikuni conversion is a known conversion so plenty of info available on that. I have a 74 850 and its been good to me for 17 years.
Any pics?
