I need to respoke the rear 19 stock wheel of my 1969 BSA Rocket 3.

I bought the 40 spokes new (i dont have the older) but they are 20 of onevlenght and the other 20 a little bit longer.

I mean 20 goes on drive side inner/outer and the other 20 on the timing side.

If it is right, wich spoke goes one side and other side?.

Second question, please, the rim goes perfect central with the hub or has a offset? in case how much and in wich side?

Thanks for helping me.

Regards.

Piero

According to the '69 A75 factory manual, the 20 timing side rear wheel spokes are 8-3/8" (8.375) inches, and the 20 drive side spokes are 8.0 inches.

Dear Les,
please again.
Has the rear rim an offset from the center of the hub?.

Sorry, I don't have that information as it isn't given in the factory manual.

Personally, I do not to rely on any specific offset measurement, but build up the wheel with the rim as close to the frame centre line as possible.

Hi Les,
I mean and i will do.
Please again: you give me the lenght 8 3/8 (8.375 inches). But 3/8 is not 0,9525?
What i dont understand?
Thank you a lot.
Regards.

" = dimension in inches
3/8" written as a fraction (three eighths of one inch) or 0.375" written as a decimal of 1 inch.

Yes, but it is the metric dimension, thus: 3/8" = 0.375" = [Edit] 9.525mm (0.9525cm)

Therefore:

8" (or 8.0 Inches) = 203.2mm

8 3/8" (or 8.375 inches) = 212.725mm

Or me, today, as I got the decimal point in the wrong place.

Should have been = 9.525mm (0.9525cm) - now corrected.
