Yes, the crazy paving appearance is normal, it varies in size across the stellite grade range, but the pattern is much the same.

The main benefit of vacuum furnace brazing is not the that the volume can be done in one go, but the process is done in an inert atmosphere to prevent oxidization at the braze interface giving more consistent results, with this there are other additional benefits. There are also some downsides, but these are easily overcome.

Just got in my 1st batch of SRM lifters. They look good. And just in time as I am running low on my OEM stock for my radiused cam kits.

Measurments show they are accurately made - more consistent than the OEMs. The finish on the radiused surface is very well done. Thanks to Nigel for helping nudge me in this direction.
