At the risk of getting zinged  , What is the story behind different sizes between UK and USA inches. Do they still have this difference in currently manufactured items or are the full blown metric? I love the history of this stuff.

We here in the UK still drive in MPH and although for example milk is packaged in 1/2 and 1 litre containers, we still refer to a bottle of milk as a pint of milk.
By law shops have to show the price of vegetables in £ per kilo most still show the price per lb. as well as the metric one.
In engineering you could say we are all metric apart from the American Companies here who still use these daft Unified threads.
Women still refer to their size in inches and clothes are still that way so you buy 32" waist trousers.
There are plans to have the cars drive on the right side of the road instead of the left for a trial period and if this is successful they will get the lorries and buses to change as well.

Oh that should prove to be entertaining ...

Picked up a stick shift, right hand drive rental car in Dover and proceeded to attempt to drive to South Kensington in London to our hotel going on the M5, the M4 and then the A4. What a nightmare. Most stressful drive I have ever had. After driving all thru France (Paris too is a nightmare to drive in), Germany, Belguim and Luxemburg, the English driving is awful. However the English drivers were the most polite of all of the European types we encountered. Horray if right lane driving takes place in England. If not I will never, ever drive in London area again.

Australiana,
What side of the street do you drive on mates?
