A fellow on another Brit forum reported getting a pre-focus LED for his 5 3/4" headlamp and that the focus is terrible. Lucas shell and lens. It looks to be the same as what Goff sells. Has anyone here had good results with these?

Dunno where he bought it but the build quality was awful. He had to move the flange and solder it in place.

Yes I have that same lamp in my hirider (5-3/4") shell with a Lucas reflector lens. While it gives better illumination than stock incandescent and is nice and bright even in daylight for being noticeable by urban traffic, I did find light throw on a dark road was nothing to get excited about. It is not running at higher voltages like units that have a separate regulator box and fancy cooling devices like a fan or big fins.
Ive just swapped it over to a roadster lamp (7") and will see how it goes.
Also note these units seem to have been uprated in power output since first appearing, so could be he has an earlier version.

This is Goffs current offering, not the same as the one in your pic. I’ve no experience with them though...

Well, I’m only going on what I can see in the two pics, but...

‘Yours’ has 6 fins that I can count, Goffs has 8.

Goffs has fins towards the bottom of the bulb, below the LEDs, yours doesn’t.

Goffs has 2 visible cross head screws, yours doesn’t.

I’m not suggesting any of these differences actually matter, they just show it’s a different product.

I just installed the Paul Goff headlamp bulb. I haven’t ridden with it but it seems very bright. Paul was a treat to do business with. Package came from the U.K. to the states amazingly fast. The led tail light bulb doesn’t seem as bright but the pilot bulb and gauge bulbs are bright.
