in order to keep track of the trip distances, in order no to get out of gas!, I am thinking to put a bicycle clock on my Norton.
Then, I am wondering if any of you already did it and what kind you bought and where you happened to hide it on the bike..
pics are welcome! thanX..

There's no odometer on your bike?

How about a reserve tap?

How about when your ass gets sore, time to fill up!

I have not done it although I had played around with the idea to put one into the face of the tachometer on a Honda CB. Still have the functionality, but only one gauge. If you do decide to get one, make sure you can set the tire circumference in the device, so it is accurate.

I have an odometer, but my beautiful Smiths clock has no trip meter and I find it useful to keep record of when to get gas..
furthermore, if I have to find a Shell VPower station to avoid ethanol every time I run out of gas..
.. did I answer? :D :D :D

I had a SigmaSport bicycle computer on one of my Ducatis. It worked great and had all kinds of cool features like average speed, ride time, and maximum speed. You calibrate them to the actual wheel size, so it was a lot more accurate than the Ducati speedometer too.

You'll probably need a rear wheel mounting kit because the front wheel mounting kit that comes with the unit will probably be too short. On the Duc the standard mount worked ok, but that was with clipons.

Get a grease pencil and write the miles down on the face of the clock that you have.... either the miles when you filled up or when you want to stop. After filling up, simply wipe the glass clean and write again. Cheap and very functional.

I've got a couple of wired ones on different bikes & they are very good. I bought a wireless one for my ES2 as I thought it would be a lot simpler to fit. It worked fine in the garage when I spun the wheel. However when I started the engine I was doing 46mph before I'd moved off! I guess Lucas Magnetos put out a lot of interference. Don't know if Commando ignition would do the same. I'll try it when I get my Commando back together.

We often over think things.... I believe in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Principle

I have a gps mount on handlebars, all the info you could ever want - I think. It's a garmin 660. Also gives speed in k, which helps in Aussie, and warns of speed cameras of which we have many in Melbourne.

But often I cannot be bothered to actually click the gps in a lot of the time, as it's ugly and spoils my 1973 minimal lines.....

So a more reliable method is to open the fuel cap and look in, under half means fuel up! :D :D

Sigma bicycle speedo. Works great. Do you have a disc brake model? The magnetic pickup is easier to install on a disc brake model.
