Hi there. I have heard the commando frame are pretty difficult to be straighten when bent , cause of the grade of the tube which is "elastic", quite different than a featherbed or say classic tubes.......any comments, cause Ihave one which need some work. It's a pity to throw it away , as I imagine it is salvable. Pierre

Good morning Cash, the headstock is no more in a vertical play, , the main tube "seems" OK (I had seen worst.) The story was some people told me the reynolds is not easy to work , as it wants to come back to previous form. However I am not a tube bender, just a sailor man....

I've seen a few frames after accidents, generally speaking they usually fracture where the large top tube meets the headstock, although this looks like a strong tube its actually quite thin. I think any attempt to straighten the headstock would put this weld under pressure and possibly weaken it. If it was mine I would throw it away and buy a new one.

I reckon Gino is right. The cost of a proper repair would more than likely exceed the price of a good used frame, or indeed a new one.
