The rationale is that this design handles the stress in the wire more efficiently, as well as helping the heat dissipation in the spring. I seem to recall seeing conventional valve springs that used the same design, but that was many years ago, and I don't recall the manufacturer. It would seem like the oval wire would benefit conventional springs in the same way it does the beehive. Anyone know of current manufacturers who use this design in their conventional valve springs?
