Does anyone know what the inside of a Beancan looks like? I've heard of people ventilating the cone on the back to get them to breath better but I've never seen or heard one that's had that done to it.

My buddy has a "Peashooter Fixer-Upper Tool" (a long, steel rod that is pointed on one end), you slip the Muffler over the Tool and pound it on the driveway a few times (the same pounding on both Mufflers, they should match).

I hope that's not too High-Tech for you.

I think some aftermarket peashooters had a plug or washer inside that your tool could improve. On the Toga made versions the tool would just fall through...no obstruction.

These are supposed to be annular discharge similar to a Supertrap muffler.

Bob,
The original black caps are quite complex inside with the exhaust gas forced to turn back on its self twice before escaping around the black cap. I would recommend you buy a new pair of straight through black caps, they tuck in great, sound as good as pea shooters and a bit more hp.

Cash, thanks. I knew there is more to it inside the beancan but didn't know the particulars. Better left alone. I had a set of the RGM Blackcaps for years and liked them a lot. They are a glasspack muffler that happens to look like a beancan but they are straight through. They are more quiet than a baffled peashooter putting around but do come on at full song. Unfortunately, I was in an accident and scratched one of them. I ordered a replacement from RGM last year and the new one had a much larger inside diameter. It's not as quiet as the old design, aside from not matching the otherside.

Bob,

Looks like you got hold of a pair of the second batch, the first batch weren't glass packed. Mine still look good considering their age.
