And if you get it & throw those mufflers out , why ayell wring youre n . . . :x

Yeah, 69/70 model with F/G tanks and panels, central oil tank and the infamous 'halo' headlamp. Probably original green gel coat. Someone out there grab it and get it back on the road, please. I's not that bad shape but will require $$$.

I think the price is a bit thick, but someone may bite. It appears to all be there. If anyone wants it, I can help with restoration info. Original seat and all. Looks good. It's probably a real mess though.

First one I have seen in the same colour as my fastback, mine is date stamped 12/69 and has not been resprayed original fibre glass green. The psychedelic 60's were great times from what I remember

Great colour, and if it was in the UK it would easily clear $4.5k the way things are going.

I really need to take a holiday to the US sometime!

I remember Scruff's Fastback from a previous thread - beautiful!
Watch out for another green Fastback in the not-too-distant future ;)

You guys and your flake paintjobs have got me going now. I get bored with paint and since its only a few pieces I repaint mine every few years. Now with this and other threads featuring metalflake I remembered I have some green and black flake from a chop I built in '72. How much do you think I need to do a roadster tank, fairing, fibreglass front fender and sidepanels, 4oz, 6 oz? more? This is what I have, about 2ozs. At the time Metalflake products was the only material in use on customer bikes and cars in the UK so I'm assuming that's what it is. Wonder if they do a similar flake 40 years on in case I feel like breaking out the flares again! It’s a blend of really fine stuff with some medium particles, not as coarse as I remember a brown flake being sprayed on a mates car back then.

Keith,

depending on the size of the flake, anything from 4-6 oz. upwards.
My proddy racer was done in a fine orange flake and I just scraped by with 6 oz. Without a tailpiece to do you should be fine with this.
I'm just in the process of doing an 'S' tank and panels in red, and because it's a coarse flake I've used the same quantity for about a third of the coverage :(
Not to mention twice the lacquer to get it covered and levelled.

Virtually impossible to get a decent shot at night, but 'best endeavours an' all that'...

FIner blue flake for comparison. The original Norton flakes were finer than this, but not much.

For the full psychedelic experience (cue swirly Hawkwind music & wacky Woodbines)....

Far out, Man etc.

That green reminds me of Emerald City. "Don't pay any attention to that man behind the curtains." Sounds like some of our politicians.

Thanks Andy, I figured as much. My flake is quite a dark green with the black pieces, nothing as bright as yours. I must have been kind of shy and retiring when I picked that in '72! Didn't want to be noticed  Anyway, turkeys in the oven, waiting for the kids and back to Christmas. Chhers

geeez... looks kinda crusty for $3333!
I just can't understand people who fill their lives with junk... not the norton, but all that other shit!
Imagine what his living room is like....
dude, two very, very important words; FENG SHUI

Andy! Hawkwind? I was slow to reply due to multiple flashbacks.

Almost me as well, saw them when they were doing college gigs in early 72. It was the Woodbines that made it though :D

Had to look up Hawkwind...never heard of them. Heavy Brit bands In 1972...Black Sabbath, Yes, Pink Floyd, ELP. By 1972 metal flake had died down in in California. My first helmet in 1968 was red metal flake EK Premier brand.

The subject of this string...the '70 green fire flake is probably worth the price if only for the rarity of the color. Would have to come into some unexpected money in the next couple of days for me to bite on this though.

hehe.... I like the green myself, if only to reminisce.
And I had one of those red metalflake helmets as well, back in the early '70s. I think I got it from JC Whitney, or Sears.

Cue the smoke...
