I was speaking with a local respected tuner regarding bar end mirrors (cause I like 'em) & he said they vibrate loose too much. What's up with that? Can't they be locked-tite?

Did you explain that Commandos don't vibrate?

Well, we were discussing my '67 Triumph at the time. Maybe they are more prone to vibrate loose from a Triumph.

On a Triumph they will fly off!

I recently added a set of bar-ends from Dime City Cycles down in Florida. They come in silver or black, infinitely adjustable, and they stay put. I did locktite the set screw that keeps the mirror in place in the bar end. I like 'em and I think they look good, get a few compliments each time I go out. The way they adjust is pretty clever, and they are slightly convex so they give a nice field of vision. Best part, they are about $35 each, so when I got clumsy and destroyed one, it wasn't so awful. Oh, and MY Norton doesn't vibrate at all; I vibrate whenever the bike is running. Good luck! ejd

CRG Bar End Mirrors £60 each.
I would expect the Hubble Telescope for that price to see behind me.
Cheers,

It will depend upon the type of bars you have fitted, the wider the bars, the more vibration at the mirror.
Even on a Triumph I would expect very little vibration at the mirror if you have a set of UK spec bars or clip ons.

Even local respected tuners can be full of sheep dip once in a while. I have used bar end mirrors universally on two BMWs, two Morinis, a Ducati and on three Nortons. All these had various bar configurations (all be it always short and low.) I have never had one loosen or cause a problem with slipping view. In my limited opinion bar end mirrors are the only way to go for narrow bars and broad shoulders.

The thing with the Napoleans is that you can swing them on the fly bringing them up for a good view. Up down and out, on the fly. The expanding rubber inserts offer a clean view.

Yup, those are pretty cool. A different look, definitely more functional than the ones I have. Mine are a little more streamlined. Yours are likely better for touring and open road stuff- I use mine just to avoid being killed... :-)

One thing I like about the little ones is that I get zero vibration- really, really clear field of vision even at idle. Which is good with a small mirror, anything blurry at all would be bad.
