Hello
I’m in the process of restoring a 1965 Ducati and in search of a set of new Avon tires.
Front: 90/90-18 Avon AM22 or AM23
Rear: 110/80-18 Avon AM22 or AM23

I’ve look everywhere I could think of in the USA, would anyone know of them to be purchased new?
Thanks.

I presume you know the back story? Avons new owners decided to stop production and close the factory that made them. They did this BEFORE having a viable alternative strategy in place.

There have been many rumoured new production dates that have come and gone. The latest is that they will start production some time this year. However, even if true, it is not clear which of the range they will / will not produce, even when they do get around to it.

Honestly, you’d think they were owned by TVS !!

So, if your restoration phase means you’re not in a hurry, best to wait.

Alternatively, you might wanna start looking at alternatives, Bridgestone BT46s get a lot of people’s votes. Continental and Metzler do alternatives. And, of course, there is Heidenau.

Thank you. I wasn’t aware of this. I’ll look elsewhere.

😂 TVS

Avon still lists the 19s as one of their roadrider sizes but no shipments to the US for quite a while. I amquite happy with the Heidinaus I have put on smallish bikes. A lot of the vintage heidinaus are unavailable when I checked a few weeks ago with the distributor saying they are expecting a container of them in Feb. I ended up putting Duro tires on the tiger cub I am doing. Not the greatest tires but not much speed needed either.

Looking at the Heidenau Tyres, the sizes im looking for are listed as….
90/90-18 tread K44 front
100/90-18 tread K65 rear
