Our Access Norton server has been blocked by AOL again:

554 RTR:BL
"This error message indicates that a permanent block has been placed against your IP due to poor IP reputation"

This means if you have an AOL email you will not be getting notifications. This happens because someone here at the forum has reported an email to them (AOHELL) as spam (most likely). First please don't do that. The server complies with all email regulations and is set up perfectly for mail.

Another cause of this is some users are signing up with false email addresses or making a typo in their email, so the forum sends an email to an email address that does not exist and the ISP will blacklist our IP.

If you have an AOL email address please login to your control panel here at the forum and update your contact email to an alternative (maybe open a free account with gmail or similar). All of the rejected AOL emails are ending up in my inbox and it is annoying, so any help would be appreciated.

If you are NOT getting forum notifications please login to your control panel here and make sure your email is NOT AOL and is valid.

Thanks-- Jerry

Don't get me started on that..

Make sure you all have strong passwords for everything and change them every 6 months.

Being a server admin as I am, you would not believe what I see. There have already been hundreds of attempted server hacks and hijacks today. Luckily I have some great scripts/ firewalls to block em and I have the worst countries like Indonesia, Russia and China blocked completely. I back the whole forum up automatically every 6 hours too. This is the worst I have seen this in over 15 years. Even though I have Russia etc blocked, they use the servers and PC's that they have already captured in other countries to launch attacks from there- Some of these server owners don't even know their servers have been compromised- Its nuts- Its quite organized. So from that perspective I do understand why the ISP's block certain IP's if they mimic an attack (like AOHELL). Hopefully we will remain ok. Worst case scenario I always have a back up as mentioned and I keep a close eye on things.

Cheers
