Atlas rear rim offset

Hi All.
Has the rear rim of the Atlas the same offset respect to the hub like Commando?

No Piero.........according to Roy Bacon , the featherbed (atlas included) have the rear rim central to the swingarm, the commando is 3/16 " offset to the right.........!

Agree with marinatlas ..... centered in swingarm.

Hi.
I understand and i agree.
But my question was to have the rim central to the swingarm you must laced the rim central to the hub or 3/16 on the right?.
I dont think that if you lace the rim central to the hub then the rim will be central to swinging arm.

I lace the wheels myself and set it up on the bike and check its central between the suspension units.I never finish up with the factory figure!. The Atlas was just copied from what was on there before and handles like a grumpy longhorn, its next in line for some RLC!. OH RLC is a sort of rough shade tree TLC involving scafold tube and big hammers.

n-bob, I don't think a big hammer will do any good to you handling problem. Better to dig out the fine spanner, a truing stand and the factory specs. When both wheels are to spec, a lattice held against the rims (w/wheels fitted) should tell you whether frame and forks are straight or not ....
If no fault found, proceed to check fork alignments and replace headstock and s/a bearings. Consider replacing headstock bearings by one-piece radial bearings.

About 50 years ago my brother had an 88 which he used everyday,including long runs to the coasts ,he also used to outride the local cops on 650 triumphs . I followed him and noticed that his wheels were both out of line and out of plumb by a long way. He insisted it was the best handling bike he had owned and refused my attentions.Scaffold tube and big big vice needed.
