With a £50k-£60k estimate which would tend to suggest a £50k reserve. Got as high as £42k but unsold. I just wish I could justify buying it to the other half

1968 (?) originally registered in France , built by Godet in 2006 , 1200cc magnesium engine electric start

I know that bike, that is a ridiculously low price!

I also know the owner, who ain’t short of a bob or two, so I suspect he’d sooner put it back in the climate controlled garage / workshop than sell it for that !
 
Of around 200 bikes at the auction I’d suggest that perhaps 75% of them failed to reach their minimum estimate (I assume that’s the reserve) and deals were being done behind the scenes as we were being advised of those that were sold later on.

were the minimum estimates too high to flatter the owners, or is there just less money going around? Several of those sold were snapped up by a couple of dealers, as were a high proportion of of the lots of spares.

There's a general trend downwards in the classic market
As has been said before try selling a car with running boards !

A club friend is managing the sale of 4 Vincents for a widow.
2 are prewar series A singles.
2 are postwar twins.
They have big prices on all of the bikes, 80-90 k CDN.
The A singles are good for a Parade ride and that's about it. They aren't something you would want to ride very far on.
The postwar twins are fully rebuilt by one of the best mechanics there is.
They could be used immediately for any kind of touring you would like to do.

Strangley, the old low powered prewar singles both sold in the first week.
Its been a month or so and the twins are both still available.
I would have expected them to sell first and the pre war singles to sit forever unsold.

In certain circles the A series bikes are held in very high regard Glen, same here in the U.K.

I‘m with you though, in the post war twin camp !

What are the post war twins he’s selling BTW ?

There is also a C Shadow that isn't a Shadow. I'm fairly certain that the owner's deceased husband purchased it as a matching numbers perfect in every way C Shadow. I know that he paid $125,000 CDN for it about 8 years ago. It was advertised as the best Black Shadow in North America.
After hearing strange noises eminating from the timing chest, the new owner took the bike to the local Vincent guru.
What he found was a cosmetically pretty bike that was completely clapped out internally.
50 k CDN in parts and labour put it in great shape.
So now the investment was up to 175,000 CDN.
When a local Vin owner looked at the bike in order to list it foe the widow, he had a good look at the numbers.
The UFM is from a Comet while the RFM doesn't seem to have a number ( replacement part?)
So it's a put together bike.
They are trying to get 115,000 for it but that seems unlikely.

The other two twins are a non matching 50 c Rapide for 75k CDn and a 52 non matching c Rapide at 80 k cdn.
Both look nice, similar to the bike I sold last year.
