Some of you might have seen my recent post "Where was that CNW starter I committed to buying?"

I have been very busy buying two project bikes and making arrangements to get them shipped, and I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THE DEAL TO BUY THE STARTER! I couldn't remember if it was here on AccessNorton, or one of several fecebook Norton groups. One of the guys saw it and alerted me, then I remembered I had worked out with the seller on FBMarketplace to TRADE for it - he needs some work on his Commando, and live only an hour and a half away! (his asking price was $3,100)

Then, I got to thinking - I'll bet this might just make a difference to @ashman , to get back on his bike perhaps a bit quicker than if he had to be kicking it. Even if he has mates that can kick it for him, they won't ALWAYS be around sometime.

So, another AccessNorton guy, @Starvingphotog (Rob) PM'ed me asking if I would consider accepting a donation from him, toward the kit, for @ashman ! I replied I'd be interested, but first had to convince HIM to accept it. Rob suggested involving other members that might want to chip in toward the costs, and I told him if Ash WANTED it, I'd be OK with the whole thing not being "all about me (donating it)".

So, I'm fully prepared to pay the whole ticket, but I am offering others to "chip in" if so inclined. "Job 1" is to get an accurate quote on the SHIPPING cost, which I will do, then finalize the deal with the starter kit seller, and see if that will need any cash (besides the work I'll be doing). I am retired, so I really don't feel right putting a price on my labor, so this will be "fuzzy" at best.

I'm going to guess the bottom line will be closer to $2,000 with shipping, after I get his bartered work done, so we'll use that as a REFERENCE point only.

@Jerry Doe @L.A.B. if this post/thread is "out of bounds" please feel free to take it down.

Thanx to all, and here's to seeing Ash back on his beloved Norton.

I am so over whelmed by this offer and have accepted GP help to keep riding but I am willing to help as well in cost for shipping and more, I have followed GPs writings for a long time both here and on Rat Triumph, fully followed his shed build, I built my shed/workshop but not on the scale Paul did, his shed would take up my whole house and land block lol.
I am not sure what to say to Paul but to say he has a kind heart to help a fallen biker mate and the lost of my right leg/foot, but it hasn't stopped me from wanting to getting back on 2 wheels, just a flesh wound really lol.

If anyone gets the chance to come to Australia for a holiday your always welcome at my place, the beers fridge is always full and the food is great, my house is always open to friends from anywhere.

Thanks again to GP and his friends, I just don't know what to say.

Ashley and Debra
