He's a bit pissed off but otherwise is good spirits.
He told me he's going to lose his right foot, which he's resigned to.
Deb, his wife, is in a worse way with ribs/lung & leg injuries.

He can access the forum from his phone but is not up to posting from it (are any of us??)

Well its the big day, just finish brekkie and in 2 hrs i be heading home for a test run to see how i go and to see what mods i need done in the house, just hope i don't fuck up as its hard work with a missing lowet leg, my balance is just out of wack.
My daughter stayed over at my place last night do hope she did dome cleaning as the house hadn't been lived in since the accident.
Hoping there be some dragon fruit on my plants as its that time of year for them to fruit, and hope my dog remembers me as she is old over 15 years old and she been there on her own, i miss her very much.
Not sure how long we be there for but i also found out a old mate was found dead in his bed so need to get out for his funural when its on and after drinks with old mates, RIP lenny you were a good person and be well missed by everyone.

Ash. Dont know how Austrailian cattle dogs are but if theyre anything like the labradore retrievers Ive had be careful she doesnt bowl you over with joy. A good dog never forgets.

Well i am back from the home visit getting in and out of the car onto the wheel chair was easy, getting on my crutchers to get
up the side of my house was good but at the end of my house my passionfruit vine needs a good cut back as it was hanging low between the house and fence , got up the back steps ok and the wheel chair got through the house after moving a few things out of the way, my wife has a lot of clutter around the house and has been a major problem for years and many aguments overtime, but things has to change there.
As for mods not much really needs to be done 2 hand rails at the back door, the door has to be changed to open in instead of out, easy fix as my dad changed that, the OT person brought up a few things to yry in the bathroom a seat across the bath tub and a seat with arms for thd toilet snd i had no problems there ever without any hand rails, so the house just needs clutter removed, a good clean as the spider webs have taken over the ceilings, my shed is tidyer than the house, it also needs to be opened up for fresh air to flow yhrough and pest control spraying.
It was good to see my dog Milly, she was a bit comfused seeing me but she likef her pats from me.
My dragon fruit is fruiting and got 2 ripe ones and 6 that were beyond saving no one there tp pick them.
So closer to going home but not yet till the place gets sorted.

Sometimes it takes a "serious event" to do some of the clearing out that we must do. I pity my kids having to clean up my barndo/shop when I'm gone...

Well been a few quiet days just 1 hr workouts in rehab gym for both me and Debra the last few days since my home visit Wednesday all quiet, the OT man has sent the other party a list of things needed for my house, a bath seat, toilet seat stand with arms that sits over the old toilet, 2 rails down the back steps but the back door needs to be remounted to swing inside the house, and to arrange someone to do mowing my yard for awhile, my mate is willing to do that as he is a mowerman, he cut back yhe passionftuit vine yesterday for me.
Debra is now putting weight on her right leg and is now hobbing around the room with a walking frame, its slow for her but she be walking before i do and closer to both of us getting home, the race is on to see who gets there first but think it will be me.
Should be soon as soon as they get the seats and rails installed but i can get up the back steps without the rails on crutchers snd of course a wheelchair on the list fir inside the house as well when i go out.
So things are looking up for both of us and once home my training leg will be made and my training to walk again will begin, be a hard 6 months but i can't wait..
Rehab waits got to go.

Just been down rehab gym doing my workout and while doing my hip workout the OT man came down to messure my leg so he gets the height right for the bath seat then he told me he has to get qoutes for the rails for the back steps and change the back door around and send the qoutes to the other insurance to pay for the work and i won't be allowed home till its fucking done.
So now i am back to being here for another 2 or 3 weeks when i want to go now so i am a bit upset when he told me this and he knew it upset me badly, then the old shit came out of his mouth "we have a duty of care to make sure your safe" then i said "what about my duty of care as the longer i am here the more depress i be getting and the more angry i get with everyone here", it seems they are covering their own arses and its starting to have a effect on my mental state, i need to get home now, but they keep putting up brick walls in front of me as i have had enough being stuck here bored off my head and getting a needle in my guts every night to prevent blood clots.
I don't care what they say, i be better off at home but i won't be alone when i do get home.
My good nature is starting to disappear the longer i am stuck here and another weekend of doing nothing when i could be home making things for my layout, can't do it here.
So its a piss off sort of day for me when i thought things have changed this week but now been set back again, another 2+ weeks here is not what i wanted to hear, i am ready to go now.

Each time I was in the hospital in Germany, they did the heparin in the stomach nightly - gets old fast! They don't do that in the US now and with all my hospital stays I'm very happy about that!

Of course I don't know your medical history and I'm certainly not qualified, but I would ask the doctor in charge for an alternative. If you have access to your blood tests, look at PT/INR. For me, that test proved that the shots were doing nothing except bruising me.

Well some better news, our day nurse came into the room when i was having a upset moment and told her what has happened so she said she get someone to come and chat with me and off she went, within 30minutes the social worker and the young lady who looks after all the discharges csme and so they listened too me and they are going to speed up the bath seat and toilet frame and get me home as for the back door and rails i can get up and down the stairs without them already (fu ck its only 3 fuc king steps) the rails can be done when they are ready anytime.
On the weekends here there is just nothing to do and that is a big problem for me, at home i have my hobby making models for the lay out and my old mate is moving in while everything gets done and my oldest daughter be here as well as she be our carer.
I have everything covered and i am not going to run amuck as i do need as much help as i can and i have the mates to help as well, a lot more support than being stuck here where no one listens, well they do listen but they just don't do anything about it, except to cover there own arses incase i fall and hurt myself, which i won't.
Well going to be a interesting week a head that's for sure.

Yeah too many here have too much power but no i can leave anytime but if i do the whole process slows down through the chain of getting a new leg which is wrong.
I am going out for the day up the local pub at 11am for a remembrrance of a lost mate who passed away this time last year, so be a lot of old mates and a few drinks to be had, give the powers to be something to talk about Monday when i come back with a few drinks in me.
Wonder if you can get done for DUI ln a wheelchair lol.
Anyway i don't really care as being with mates is part of my recovery not the powers to be, stuff them i just want to get back to a near normal life as i can as soon as i can.

Had a lazy Saturday afternoon today rain dodging and watching the 1956 film " Reach for the sky " ( for the umpteenth time ) telling the story of Douglas Bader the WW2 pilot who had lost both legs in a 1930's flying accident and thought if he can do that Ash can easily kick start and ride his Noton, might have the occasional sore stump but should be able to get that permanent grin back.
^^^ Great real life story of hope and determination so if having a down day think of Douglas / watch the film / read the book.

Any injury which I ever received while racing, I always considered to be a 'self-inflicted wound'. There was a time that whenever I got into my car to drive to work, I used to use my left hand to put my right hand onto the steering wheel. Ash's dilemma reads like 'welcome to my nightmare' - but at age 84, I am actually happy to be alive. When I has injured while racing - I had been chucked down the road at about 70 MPH on the top of my head. By the time I reached a small ripple in the bitumen, I was on my side - I copped a dislocated collar bone. I am very aware of the potential in that. One of my mates once said 'every time we fall off a motorcycle, we could be killed'. I have never thought like that. Once I am on the motorcycle, I am never going to crash. I actually discussed my injury with Steve Oszko who was at the top in our local racing. He said 'I think you have to be very unlucky to be killed while racing' - some things are just a matter of dumb luck - or God. On public roads, most of the drivers are usually half-asleep - it is really dangerous. When driving my car in our town, and crossing an intersection, there is always the possibility of a loud bang and finding myself waking-up in hospital. One night a kid in a car came out of the dark with no lights at high speed - he just missed me - he disappeared after that. I don't know what happened to him - the cops must have been aware of him, but he was extremely dangerous. When I was young, a motorcycle was my main mode of transport - I used to fly intersections. I must have been insane - I thought I knew what I was doing. Doing something randomly but often can create certainty.

Yes a great movie and seen it a few time over but not lately.
Well was a big day up at the pub comsumed a lot beers and lots kept shouting me more by 4 i was ready to go back to the insane ward lol with a full tank lol.
WHile at the pub i needed to empty the tank and a mate wheeled me to the disabled toilet but was being used so he pushed me into the normal toilet to the piss truff ehere i just sat in my chair, hung it out and let it flow, worked out great and another 2 visits to the pissa and samething, fuck the disabled toilet lol.
Well it was a great day out, old mates, cold beers what else i could ask for on a day out, makes me want to get home eben more.
My mate who took me there had to leave early so i was wondering how i get back to the hospital but he came back at 3 and he took me back at 4, 5 hours on the piss and i had enough beer in me a full tank at that lol, i was fired up and back before tea time, i was on my best behavour when i got back and the nurses knew i had a great day out, it was needed badly i can tell you.
This morning bacon amd eggs for brekkie be here in a few minutes, i need it as i am hungry been up since 5 but woke up at 4am before the sun.
Well i had my beer day out and i won't have anymore for awhile next time i be home and even then not going to get into it, i be a good boy, well maybe who knows lol.
